Low blow!

Some people just don't know when (or how) to keep their thoughts to themselves! wow!

It is no surprise that I've been struggling with my weight for the past year.. I've hit rock bottom and I'm currently at my heaviest weight EVER...

Not that I've made any efforts at losing weight, but it still sucks....

I know, I know.. I should get off the couch and exercise and maybe stop eating so much sweets, BUT the point is that I still haven't done it and here I am, at a whooping size 10 and 175 lbs! wow! I said it! it sounds crazy!!

So... yesterday I was out visiting a patient and his nurse was incredibly vocal and bursted "Wow! You've gained SO MUCH weight! You look so fat!"... I looked at her, perplexed at her honesty.. and said "I've weighed the same for about 9 months now, you must not remember me"... Mind you, she sees me at least every 3 months... oh well...it was uncomfortable but I survived.. it happens! But what a low blow..right??

The sad part is that it doesn't end there.. I'm still fat and I'm still struggling.. and I hate the thought of people feeling sorry for me and my excess weight!

I NEED to find the motivation to get out of this fat body and start living in a skinnier version of myself... I just hope it happens fast!

Weekend fun!

This weekend was fun (and also way too short)...

We had so much fun hanging out with friends and family.. the girls enjoyed some outdoor fun and hot weather, as well as some pool time..

My dad arrived from Alabama on Friday night and we went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant.

There was live music and some other entertainment.. it was great.. and it's also great to have my dad here for the summer... awesome feeling!

The girls had an amazing time at the pool with their friends Isabella and Ale. They enjoyed some fun in the sun and we had a great time sharing with our friends...

Francis' baby shower

Today I attended Francis' baby shower at Positano Ristorante in Doral. The shower was awesome and the food was amazing!

I had a wonderful time with some friends and the mommy to be, who is expecting a baby boy due in early July. Francis was glowing and everyone was happy to celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby Mathias.

Congrats Francis! Can't wait to meet your bebe!

Pacifier troubles!

Gaby had made so much progress with the pacifier...she was ready to give it up and was only using it at night...BUT, she woke up feeling a little stuffy and whiny a few days ago and my wonderful husband decided it'd be a great idea to give her a paci again! Dumb idea if you ask me.. but oh well...

Now we're back to square one, where she's asking for it all the time... well, maybe not all the time, but the image of the pacifier came to her mind again and I don't like it... this is like a regression... booo!

I am really hoping that we can we rid of this crazy habit before she turns two... after that, we will tackle the diapers and anything else that we may need to tackle...

I never thought I'd say this, but sometimes I'm ready to be done with this "baby stage" and just get on with the toddler years... it is exhausting!

Gaby is 22 months!

My little "baby" turned 22 months yesterday, and I can't believe it...of course I say the same thing every month, but her 2nd birthday is quickly approaching and I always get so emotional about the thought of my kids getting older!! ahhh!!!

Gaby has a temper! wow! Sometimes she is "short fused" for no reason and it drives me nuts...but I must admit that most of the time, she's really a joy to be around!

She is really starting to get into playing dress-up with Olivia and loves headbands, necklaces, bracelets, etc...

She still loves music and dancing and is a huge talker... she is in the "parrot" stage, where she repeats everything anybody says!

She is slowly breaking her pacifier habit, which makes me really happy.. for a week or so she even stopped sleeping with it, but then we caved one night and she still uses it for bedtime...oh well! It can't all be so perfect, right?

As far as potty training goes...we haven't even started! She goes crazy if I dare to even walk by a potty with her..it's nuts...she's obviously not ready for that yet...not even a little bit...so..it will wait!

Anyways, you get the point... I love my baby and everything she is... and I'm looking forward to her 2nd birthday and her party!

"RIO"

Although the movie has been out since April, I just saw "RIO" this week..and can I say "wow"... I can't believe I waited so long to see this one..

The whole experience was an adventure since I took both girls by myself...It was Gaby's first time so she was a little "overwhelmed" with the whole thing...but she did just fine!

The movie is an animated feature which narrates to story of a Blue Macaw, who was born in Rio but grew up in Minnesota after he was captured...

He goes back to Rio with his owner, after a bird specialist persuades her to take him so that he can save the species!

The bird goes through many adventures in RIO, which include falling in love, meeting new friends, escaping bird smugglers, learning to fly and even dancing in the Rio Carnaval... very cute!

The graphics and colors are amazing and the story line is funny and very refreshing! I loved this movie.. I give it 5 out of 5 stars! Go see it if you haven't already! ;)

"Something Borrowed"

Today I saw "Something Borrowed", the new Kate Hudson movie, which has been out since May 6th..

I must say it was..... cute! Not what I expected, but still cute...

The story revolves around two friends (Rachel and Darcy), who are basically in love with the same guy (Dex)...

Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is the typical nice, sweet girl, who went to law school with Dex, who happens to be engaged to marry her best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson), a bitchy, self-centered girl, who things the whole world revolves around her...

Turns out, Rachel has always had a crush on Dex, which only comes up right before the wedding....

They start a romance, they both feel guilty, etc, etc.. you get the picture...

In the end, they are all "happy", although not the typical case, where everyone forgives one another and life goes on...

The story line was less than creative and the ending was pretty predictable.. but the movie was entertaining and refreshing...

I give 3.5 stars out of 5! Not too shabby!

Diet Coke "detox"

I've been a Diet Coke drinker for over 20 years...yes yes.. that sounds insane being that I'm *only* 29 years old.. but it is my crazy reality...

The fact is that I love this drink and I could drink it all day every day... I know it's not the best, but it is yummy (for me anyways, and also for the millions of people that drink it around the world).. Diet coke is the MOST SOLD drink in the world! wow!

But the other day I read this article, which really really scared me! wow...

It scared me to the point where I decided to QUIT drinking this "poison"... I figured Diet Coke is the root of all my evil.. health evil at least..

I started doing some research and found this site about a guy's diet soda addiction.. I've decided to give it a try and at least attempt to find substitutes for my vice... so far it has been 2 days of "no Diet Coke" and I'm suffering... I feel withdrawal symptoms and it's not pretty... but I'm committed to this and WILL DO IT!

I guess water, juices and shakes will have to do! ;)

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow mommies.. !!!

It was such a wonderful day for our family today..

We spent the day together and enjoyed each other's company...

We went to church and then had an awesome lunch at a Mexican restaurant, where they had mariachis and all.. it was great!

I also got to spend time with my wonderful mom, who is spending the summer with us!

Thank you lord for another amazing day!

Catching up...

So, I'm playing "blog catch up" again, since I really haven't been able to sit down and tell my anecdotes and daily fun... it has been very hectic and I've been too lazy!!

Iggy and I went out to celebrate "Cinco de Mayo" on Thursday and it was fun.. I had a margarita and Iggy had a beer...I was almost drunk with just that ONE margarita, which goes to show I'm definitely not made up for drinking..ha! it was a short but fun date.. definitely a change!

On Friday, I attended a Mother's Day celebration at Olivia's school..the kids said a poem and gave flowers and handmade gifts to their moms.. We also enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and spent time with the little ones..a wonderful start to the weekend...

.. today we attended Irene Victoria's first communion.. (she is the oldest daughter of my cousin Irene).. She was so radiant and proud of herself on this big day.. Olivia had a blast playing with her cousin Valeria (3 months older than her) and we enjoyed a great day with family...

Nikon D700*

*wish list revamped??...maybe so!

After making my post yesterday about my wish list and the Canon 7D camera.. I started doing some research and found a great Nikon option, which is equivalent to the Canon I was looking into..

This is great news because I could keep upgrade my camera and keep my current lenses.. awesome deal!

The camera is about $2600.. which is a bit pricey but totally doable!

Does anyone have any good reviews on this camera?

Wish list...

So, I recently got an iPad2 and now I'm restructuring my wish list.. there are so many things I want and it helps to write them down to get organized.. These are two things to add:

Firs off, I want a Canon 7D camera.. it takes such awesome pictures and the images are so clear on the preview screen... Ahhh! what a great camera! The issue is that it is over $2000 and switching to Canon would mean I'd have to replace my Nikon camera and all of my lenses, which are worth over $3000. I would also have to buy a few lenses for the new camera and all of the related accessories...So, needless to say, this item on my wish list, will remain unfulfilled for a while!! oh well!

Another item of my wish list, is a trip to Italy... Ever since I visited France and Spain, I got the urge to travel to Italy as well. We didn't get a chance to visit last year, but we have serious plans to go either this Fall or next Spring. I'm dying to visit Rome, Venice and Florence, among many other wonderful places in that amazing country....any takers??

Sunday... fun day!

Today was another fun Sunday... filled with fun activities..

First we attended my friend Sandra's baby shower... she is 30 weeks along, expecting her 2nd baby... a boy that is due to arrive in mid-July..

We had such a wonderful time with her and all of my friends from work who attended... She is glowing and such a happy mommy-to-be..

.. after the baby shower we attended Aqsa's 3rd birthday party, which took place at Monkey Joe's.. the girls had such a blast jumping around in the bounce houses and eating junk and cake..

Aqsa was such a happy birthday boy... what a wonderful time!

Martyna's Wedding

This weekend was very major in my best friend's life.. she finally got married and had the wedding of her dreams!

On Thursday night we attended her rehearsal dinner, which was held at a beautiful restaurant called Red Fish Grill, which is in a beautiful spot on the beach in Miami.. dinner was amazing and we had so much fun preparing for the wedding!

On Friday, the wedding took place.. the day was so lovely.. It started out with the bridesmaids getting ready at the Ritz-Carlton in Coconut Grove, followed by a photo shoot and a beautiful church ceremony...

Martyna looked absolutely beautiful and she was glowing of happiness... amazing!

...the ceremony was also very special... Martyna and Gokhan were so happy and it was such an honor for me to be part of their bridal party...

...the wedding reception took place at the Women's Club of Coconut Grove, which is a beautiful coral building, located at the heart of Coconut Grove.. everything was so perfect and beautiful..

Martyna had the wedding of her dreams and all of the guests had a blast... including us, of course!

Congrats Gokhan and Martyna! We wish you many happy years and a life filled with amazing and unforgettable moments! Thank you for a wonderful wedding!
